Park overall was dirty. Not sure of bathrooms- we used our own, but when I went to look it was locked.
Many run down campers that looked like they have been left there.
Most of the campers are permanent residents. They looked like they haven't moved in years and probably never will. Some of the sites were very junky. One resident had a chain and lock around the power box and his surge protector. We noticed that some of the empty "sites" were non working. The power boxes were missing covers and missing parts. It looked very unsafe. The power lines looked like they ran from the office building and were held up by being wrapped around the trees or over branches. There was a building that looked like it might have been a bath house but honestly we didn't even go near it because we were not sure if it was still in working order. There was a rusty, junky swingset behind the office building that was all grown up around and a pool that probably hasn't been used in 10+ years. The fence that was around it had vines and bushes grown up around it and some of it was falling over.
Creek or river was really muddy. It could be that way because of higher water, but not something I would let my kids play in.
If you have a big camper it will be hard to find a spot with no trees. The roads are beat up asphalt and mostly dirt. The electric is 30 volts but have 20 volt breakers. Lucky we were able to still run our air conditioner on low. This place is right by a train track with frequent trains and there is a main road right next to the campground.
The people and the lady Ms. Jean that runs the campground is wonderful, and so is her right hand man No. This is a quiet campground. The only downfall is this place needs a lot of upgrading.
Cons-Potholes all through park. Only a 20 amp breaker with a 30 amp outlet. We kept blowing the breaker. We had a 33 foot 5th Wheel and tight in many areas except for the front of the park.
Pro:
We got in late (9:00pm) and they did help us find a spot to park.
Not big rig friendly at all. Low hanging branches, very narrow, half paved roads with pot holes. Trees very close to the roads making it hard to maneuver. We camped in a "pull thru" with a 33ft TT.. we had to back out of it.
Pros- quick spot to stop for the night. Seems like a lot of workers stay there. And cheap. $25 for the night.
Nice location alongside Sweetwater Creek. Only thing I can really complain about is the power surges on the 2nd and 3rd row. They are just awful and are ruining some of my stuff in camper so make sure to use surge protector and also ask for any other rows besides 2/3. Lots of long time ppl here and it has been the quietest damn campground I have ever seen even on the weekends! It's morbidly quiet at times.
Neutral:
If you are looking to go camping, this isn't an option for you.... if you are in desperate need of somewhere to park for the night with water and very skeptical electric then you can chance it.
I'm not writing this review bc I was unhappy, I could care less about it bc it served its purpose to us only overnighting.. but I am writing this as a warning to all other fellow campers.
Im very surprised the city hasn't stepped in and shut this place down. It is not a campground. It's a very old run down KOA that someone bought and are allowing people to squat there.
Also there is a hillbilly type atmosphere.
Stayed here because it was our last resort. We were just passing through Atlanta and no one else had availability without being so far outside of the city. I read the bad reviews but saw that the pictures were not terrible. The lady on the phone was very nice when I explained that we would be arriving after 6pm (when the office closed). She said she would have someone meet us at the entrance and show us to our site and pay the next morning (cash only $25). The gentleman was friendly and helpful. It was getting dark when we arrived but could tell that it was a bit run down. We were only planning on staying one night so we were not going to put our slides out... but after seeing the type of neighborhood we were in we decided to go ahead and level up and put the slides out just to make it look like someone was there. We were leaving to go out to a concert and didn't plan on being back until about 3am. The next day when we were walking our dogs around in the daylight, that's when we really discovered what type of place this really was. When we went to the "office" to pay, she never took down any information, not even our name. Didn't offer a receipt or anything.
